One Year Post Partum

FB_IMG_1512530149514.jpgIt’s been a full year between these two photos. Oh what a year it has been!!

I remember after having my second child I stood in this mirror and thought 💭WOW….I didn’t look this swollen after having a c-section with my first…all of the work I had put in to get my body ready to be pregnant again, gone….

I remember taking this photo because I wanted people to know what a body looks like 4 days after giving birth, I wanted to remember what MY body looked like. It’s fascinating to me, that we as women, can put our bodies through SO much.

I gained 45 lbs with my second..15 lbs more than my first…it was hard on my body, it was hard on my mind. I know my body well enough to know that it’s ‘happy, healthy’ weight is nowhere near this new postpartum weight and I also knew that from breastfeeding alone I would lose SOME of the extra weight but I would really have to buckle down and WORK to lose the rest.

Now just hard WORK alone did NOT get me to the shape I am today..NOPE. It takes hard WORK and proper nutrition. Over the last 6 months I’ve tuned in to my nutrition and really been able to shed the last few pounds of baby weight. At one point I had leaned out so much I was back to my high school weight..not quite what I wanted but it just showed me that I was carrying weight my body didn’t need to be.

Now I’m at my ‘happy’ weight. My body is still lean and I’ve gained the few extra pounds I was desiring, in a healthy way. The best surprise for me was actually HAVING to eat MORE!! Now that I’ve learned how to fuel my body to get the most out of my workouts I feel great!!

I’m beyond thrilled with ALL that this last year has brought me.
*a beautiful little girl
*more smiles (and laugh lines) than I ever thought imaginable
*a better understanding of my own body
*a better understanding of nutrition
*abs I can see (had to include those) 

All of my post-partum success has been achieved at home!! I work out in my home an average of 30 minutes each day, follow an easy nutrition plan, have a list of clean eating recipes a mile long, a group of women who support me while I support them and the best part, I get to help other women look and feel their best. It doesn’t get much better than that!!
